The 2026 Chinese Film Festival in Cebu officially opened on June 10, bringing an opportunity once again for Cebuano to experience Chinese cinema.Consul General Zhang Zhen and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival together with nearly 300 guests attended the opening ceremony.

“This festival is more than a film showcase. It is a bridge between our hearts, a window into modern and ancient China, and a celebration of the emotions and dreams that unite us all.” Consul General Zhang Zhen said in her welcome address.“Our two peoples have shared history, shared bond, and shared future.We are also bound together by shared values centered on life, family, community and shared humanity.” Zhang added.

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and city councilor Michelle Abella spoke highly of the film festival, noting that it serves as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange and highlights the enduring friendship and cooperation between the Filipino and Chinese communities.
