On August 29, Consul General Zhang Zhen attended the “Photo Exhibit of the 80th anniversary of the End of World War II” and delivered a speech as follows:

Distinguished guests, dear friends, ladies and gentlemen:

First of all, I’d like to extend my highest appreciation to the organizers and supporters who make this exhibition possible.   

It is with deep emotion that we stand at this moving exhibition.Eighty years ago, the world emerged from the darkest night of fascism into the dawn of peace.

The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was a pivotal chapter in the world anti-fascist war. China was the first to suffer fascist aggression, waged the longest resistance, and stood as a pillar in main Eastern theater. With over 35 million casualties, China tied down nearly 70 percent of the Japanese Army, helped Allied forces in other theaters gain vital strategic opportunities and made crucial contribution to the final victory of world anti-fascist war.

Today, as we stand before these touching images, we don't just see history - we see our shared humanity.

The photographs of Chinese and Filipino standing shoulder to shoulder in fight against fascism remind us that humanity knows no borders, justice prevails! Their blood mingled with Filipino soil, creating bonds no force can sever.

The courage, resilience, and solidarity demonstrated in these stories are no less remarkable than other events in the European theater. It is important that we remember and honor this shared legacy, as it continues to offer valuable lessons for peace and justice in today’s world.

We honor this history as a testament to our enduring friendship‌—a bond strengthened through solidarity, sacrifice and mutual support.

We can draw wisdom and strength from our shared historical memory, firmly safeguard the fruit of the victory of World Anti-Fascist War and the postwar international order.

To jointly create a better future with neighboring countries, China remains committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind, acting on the common vision of a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful, amicable and harmonious home.
