To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines, Chinese Film Festival was launched on June 12 in Cebu. About 200 guests from local governments and various sectors attended opening ceremony.
Consul General Zhang Zhen delivered a welcome message. She emphasized that China and the Philippines are neighbors bound by geography, but truly connected by culture, blood and heart. This festival is not merely a showcase of film, but a testament to people’s friendship, which is rooted in shared history and nurtured by shared future, she noted.
Cebu City acting mayor Dondon Hontiveros and Cebu city councilor Edgardo Jaypee Labella expressed love for Chinese films, and showed their full support for fostering friendship and cultural exchanges between China and the Philippines.
During the 10-day film festival, four well-received Chinese films are being screened at Ayala Central Bloc Cinemas.
